Sealaska annually provides hundreds of merit-based scholarships — both full- and part-time — to support emerging leaders from our community. Since the program began, we have distributed roughly 11,000 scholarships, totaling about $20 million.

Applicants must satisfy all of the following:
- Meet the definition of Alaska Native as “Native” under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, 43 U.S.C. 1602(b).

To provide a dedicated funding vehicle for those efforts, the Association created the NDTA Foundation in 1961 as a separate financial entity operating under NDTA. A volunteer Board of Trustees oversees the Foundation’s work.

The Foundation relies on voluntary contributions. Donations are tax-deductible under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are restricted to Foundation-related purposes and may not be used to cover unrelated operating expenses.
