Scholarships for students at Heartland Community College and Illinois State University pursuing careers in agriculture
Overview
These awards support McLean County students who are planning careers in agriculture. Awards are available to high school seniors, college/university students, and students in technical or trade programs.
Eligibility Requirements
- Graduate of a McLean County high school and current resident of McLean County.
- Member of the McLean County Farm Bureau or a dependent of a member.
- Enrolled full time and pursuing an agricultural degree or certificate (see category-specific requirements below).
Scholarship Categories and Amounts
1. High School Seniors — $500–$2,000
- Must be graduating high school in May 2025.
- Must have been accepted to an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
2. College / University Students — $500–$2,000
- Must be a full-time student working toward an agriculture-related degree.
3. Technical or Trade School Students — $1,000
- Must be enrolled in an ag-related technical certificate program such as Diesel/Service Technician, Welding, Custom Applicator, or a similar program.
- Note: programs at regular community colleges do not qualify for this particular technical/trade scholarship.
Selection Criteria
Recipients are chosen based on demonstrated leadership and personal character.
Important Note
Students attending Heartland Community College and Illinois State University are not eligible for Ag Leadership Scholarships, but they may apply for the Homegrown Ag Scholarships.
Application Deadline
Applications are due annually on February 1.
Application Requirement
Each application must include a recommendation form completed by a reference chosen by the applicant.
