Value: $5,000
Awards Available: 2
Deadline : Apr 30, 2024

The objectives of the AIST Philadelphia Member Chapter Scholarships are to reward and encourage AIST Philadelphia Chapter area students who are currently enrolled, and preparing for a career, in engineering or metallurgy by providing a grant of financial support during full-time attendance at any accredited college or university.

Awards

Up to one (1) US$5,000 one-year University Scholarships and up to (1) US$2,000 one-year College/Technical Scholarships will be available each year. The scholarship will be awarded to an AIST Philadelphia Chapter area student based on the criteria the Scholarship Award Committee has developed. If there are no applicants in engineering, materials science or metallurgy, the award may be given to an eligible student studying other majors relating to iron and steel production.

Eligibility

Applicants must be accepted into, planning to attend, or currently enrolled in an eligible, full-time curriculum at an accredited university, college, or technical/trade school.

University or College Bachelor of Science Degree Scholarship – The student would be preferably enrolled as a candidate for a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, materials science, or metallurgy curriculum, although if there are no applicants in that fit those categories, the award may be given to an eligible student studying other majors relating to iron and steel production. The student’s home address must be within AIST Philadelphia Member Chapter area or must be attending a college or university in the Philadelphia Member Chapter area.

College/Technical School Scholarships - the applicant need not be related to an active AIST Chapter Member in good standing, but the applicant must include a letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher, instructor, or professor. The student must be accepted or enrolled as a candidate for an Associate degree in a STEM or STEAM curriculum, or a degree or certification in a technical field related to manufacturing or maintenance. The student’s home address must be within the AIST Philadelphia Member Chapter area, or the college or technical school must be within the AIST Member Chapter area.

Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Award Committee. The Committee consists of a Chair (AIST Philadelphia Chapter Member), up to four additional members of the Philadelphia Chapter and the Secretary (AIST Philadelphia Chapter).

Rules
