The Bird Dog Foundation presents two annual programs for students and young adults: a K–12 Youth Art Contest and a College Scholarship Essay Contest. Both events are popular in the region and attract many entries each year. All activities are hosted at the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, TN.

Youth Art Contest (Grades K–12)
- Overview: The Foundation’s yearly Youth Art Contest draws hundreds of submissions from local schools and home-school students. It is open to enrolled and home-schooled students in kindergarten through 12th grade who live or attend school within a 75-mile radius of the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, Tennessee.
- Deadline: Artwork must be submitted by January 15 each year.
- Award Ceremony: A date for the contest’s award ceremony is not fixed annually; the Foundation announces the ceremony date after winners are selected. Please consult the Foundation’s website for the latest schedule.

Bird Dog Foundation Annual College Scholarship Essay Contest
- Deadline: April 15 each year.
- Purpose: The Foundation maintains a Scholarship Fund to encourage understanding and appreciation of hunting, wildlife conservation, the United States’ outdoor heritage, and related topics. The annual essay contest supports these aims while providing financial help to students heading to college.
- Rules and preparation: Strict compliance with contest rules is mandatory for consideration. Teachers are strongly encouraged to review student essays before submission to help eliminate grammatical errors and ensure the entry follows all guidelines.
- Awards and disbursement: First, second, and third place essays are awarded scholarships that are paid directly to an accredited college or university after the recipient provides proof of enrollment. Current award amounts are: 1st place $2,000; 2nd place $1,500; 3rd place $1,000.

Eligibility (Scholarship Essay Contest)
- The essay contest is restricted to high school seniors (12th grade) preparing to enter college as freshmen.
- Entrants must be U.S. citizens.
- Eligible applicants must either reside in Tennessee, Mississippi, or Arkansas, or be affiliated with a bird dog club, organization, or field trial association in any of the other 47 U.S. states.

Privacy Policy and Entry Information
1. The Bird Dog Foundation, Inc. does not collect or retain information about casual visitors to its website.
2. There is no fee required to enter the College Scholarship Essay Contest.
3. Students are not asked to provide sensitive secure data to participate. The only information required on the essay cover sheet is the entrant’s full name, complete residential mailing address, email address, phone number (optional alternate contact), the date, and the name and address of the school currently attended. If an essay is chosen as a winner, additional details such as parents’ names and mailing addresses may be requested to facilitate sending invitations and announcements for the award ceremony. Social Security numbers will never be requested. All information submitted is treated as confidential and will be used only by the Bird Dog Foundation, Inc.
4. Winners consent to have their basic contact information (name, address, phone number) shared with the college or university they designate so the scholarship may be awarded.
