GFWC-MFWC Hebron Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by General Federation of Women Clubs of Mississippi
Hebron Memorial Scholarship — maintained by the GFWC-Mississippi Federation of Women’s Clubs, Inc. — is available exclusively to female residents of Mississippi. The award is a one-time grant; normally only a single scholarship will be awarded each year unless the Executive Committee authorizes additional awards. Recipients may be considered by the Scholarship Committee for renewal for one or more additional years.
Eligibility and application requirements
- Maximum award: $1,000.
- Deadline: Written applications must be submitted to the Chairman of the Hebron Memorial Scholarship Committee no later than February 1 for use during that calendar year.
- Residency and educational standing: Applicants must be Mississippi residents. An applicant may be either
- a high school graduate from an accredited school with a strong scholastic record preparing to enter college, or
- a college graduate who is enrolled in an accredited graduate program.
- Endorsements and recommendations:
- The application must be endorsed by three (3) members of the GFWC-Mississippi Federation of Women’s Clubs.
- The application must include recommendations from three (3) additional individuals addressing the applicant’s scholarship, character, and leadership qualities.
- Degree completion: Applicants must indicate their intention to complete their degree within a four-year timeframe.
Additional provisions
- Priority will be given to applicants planning to serve in areas identified as having particular need within the state.
- The scholarship is not restricted by college year (freshman through senior and graduate students may apply), but the award is limited to institutions of higher learning located in Mississippi.
- Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the institution the recipient will attend.
- Recipients are expected to attend the State Convention or a State Board Meeting to receive formal recognition.
