Overview
Scholarship awards may total up to $2,000.00. The exact amount awarded to each recipient will depend on how many recipients are selected and the organization’s fundraising capacity. All scholarship monies must be spent within one year of the date they are received.
How to Apply
Submit your application through the Orlando Youth Alliance Continuing Education Scholarship online application portal. The application must include the following attachments:
Required Documents
- Transcript: A copy of your current transcript — either from the post-secondary institution (college or university) you are attending now, or from the high school you are presently enrolled in.
- Essay: A two-page essay (include your name on every page), typed double-spaced in 12-point font. Grammar, spelling, and organization will be evaluated. Address the following in your essay: a brief biography emphasizing academic achievements and coursework; your experiences or impact as an LGBTQ student; your chosen major or career objective, why you selected it, and how you plan to use it in the future.
- Letter of Recommendation: One recommendation from a faculty member, school administrator, minister, or counselor.
- Degree Program Description: A copy of the degree program description and required course list taken from the university catalog. Any printed excerpts must show full bibliographic reference information for the original source.
- Current Resume
