Introduction
10,000 Degrees scholarships are intended for students who can show financial need and are pursuing their first postsecondary credential—either an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree, or a technical certification. Applicants must have a connection to the Bay Area through graduation from a local high school and/or current residence in one of the counties we serve.
Who can apply (eligibility)
- Financial need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
- Program of study: Must be working toward their first associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or a technical certification program.
- Geographic connection: Must have graduated from a high school and/or currently live in one of the following Bay Area counties: Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, Contra Costa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, or Lake.
Academic standing and enrollment
- GPA: There is no minimum GPA required to submit an application.
- Enrollment status: Recipients must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 academic units per semester or term during the current academic year.
Eligible institutions
- Location: Colleges or universities must be based in the United States.
- Accreditation and federal participation: Institutions must be accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and participate in the federal Title IX student aid program.
- Institutional type: Eligible schools are typically nonprofit institutions; however, a limited number of the scholarships we manage can be awarded to students attending for-profit colleges.
