Overview
Each year the AFSCME Family Scholarship Program selects ten graduating high school seniors to receive $2,000 scholarships. Recipients may have the award renewed for up to three additional years—$2,000 per year—for a maximum of four years total, as long as they remain enrolled full time. The scholarship can be used for any course of study.
Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a graduating high school senior when applying, and have a parent, legal guardian, or financially responsible grandparent who is a full dues-paying AFSCME member.
- At the time the award is granted, be enrolled full time in a degree program at either an accredited four-year college/university or a two-year institution whose credits will transfer to a four-year school.
- Note: In 2022, AFSCME adopted a test-optional policy. Submission of SAT or ACT scores is not required; however, the selection committee may take scores into account if provided.
